As you might expect from the title, the theme here is the four elements of nature; Fire, Water, Air and Earth. All the stock options remain, bet sizing is controlled by the coin system and the only variation of note is that the free play game has a lower limit on some sites. Which you receive depends on which element you collected more of during the avalanche section and the meter above the controls keeps track of this. The elements are central to the symbols in the theme too. With the wild a stone cube inscribed with runes to represent earth, fire, water and wind. The top four symbols are the elements themselves, ‘awakened’ into character form. Our favourite is fire who looks like a right mischievous little fellow. Underneath the main element symbols sit a junior inanimate element tied to each of them. This is a nice use of theme rather than simply adding in playing card symbols. Sadly, entertaining as the base game is, the disparity between 4 and 5 of a kind symbol combinations is so massive that you need to be very lucky to land a big win in the base game. Mostly you will be auto-spinning to unlock one of the free fall features.
We don’t like to drone on about how amazing NetEnt’s graphics are but each of the bespoke intro sequences for the free falls games make them worth the wait. Water: Water flows and thus the water storm wild cascades onto the reels and expands randomly with every spin. We think this is the least volatile of the free fall games and arguably has the best animations.
